Call with grandma
THE DAY BEFORE MY GRANDMA RAN AWAY FROM HER ABUSERS SHE SNEAKED OVER TO HER NEIGHBOR'S HOUSE AND CALLED ME. I recorded this call. I had not spoken to my grandma in SO long I had so much I needed to tell her and get out. I wanted her to know everything they were making her believe (that she was going to get kicked out of her house, etc). They were blocking our calls. They emailed me and said I couldn't visit her in person because she was getting used to "visiting angels" care aides. This turned out to be a lie. they never hired them despite their court agreement they would. I was speaking under pressure because I feared her daughters would come over there and stop our call.
Grandma mentions the following:
1. (:30 sec) inform her my number is blocked
(1:00 min) Grandma acknowledges they
(2:05 min) Me: "Did anyone touch you did anyone push you?" Grandma: "oh yeah, in the bed why? .....
(3:26 min) She talks about the officer
(4:27) she says she is fine in her house unless "they" come (grandma doesn't know how to state
(4:52- 6:10) telling grandma she is NOT a burden Telling her her daughters were suppose to give her a caregiver so she can remain independent.
(6:50) encouraging her to tell the social worker the TRUTH telling her her daughters cannot put her in a home. They have to provide her with support services.Promising
(7:20) Grandma mentioning the shop value
(7:35) Grandma tells me she wants to live at home.
(8:15) Grandma tells me how police are too busy so they dont pay attention to her when she calls.
(8:40) Grandma does not get she is being abused. She states she didn't get to talk to the officer. She said there was nothing to tell him about being shoved by her daughters because she wasn't dead. Her daughters came when they saw the officer on the camera. Grandma talks about how after the officer left her daughters went back to their houses.
(9:15) Grandma is talking about insurance money and her distrust of her daughters. I try to reassure her that the courts will make sure nobody is doing her wrong.
(9:24) I start crying because I feel so frustrated that grandma doesn't understand she is being misused. She doesn't understand how vulnerable she is.
(9:55) Grandma explains their incompetency in the way they hired some random lady to help grandma (not Visiting Angels who are skilled to work with active seniors). Also grandma mentioned it was a waste of money because she just sat there, and they were paying her using her money (why would her guardians tell her that the lady was getting paid with her money?) They didn't hire high quality aides for active seniors who are skilled in companionship. My grandma doesn't need a babysitter she needs a driver to take her to events.
(11:43) she told me I should just come over and call the police and come meet them over there to say all I m doing is visiting my grandma. I was too scared to do this because I feared continued isolation if I was too confrontational.
(11:55) she told me I could go to the neighbors so then she could come visit me over there. She knew
(12:50) Im telling my grandma not speak bad about them. She tells me ALL THE TIME-- Im not gossiping Im trying to tell you what they are doing so you will know it!! She did this non-stop when she would stay with me. She would tell me they are not my guardians they are lying to me. and I would continue to say don't talk bad about them . When really my grandma was just trying to warn me of what she saw ocurring).
13:00 she wants me to call the police and have them secret me over there.. She said she cant leave her house to come visit me or she will lose her house. Who told her this? Her daugthers know she will not leave if they keep coming to her house because she doesn't trust them iaround their house.
