brandihill > After all the kids took their photo. Some kids stayed behind in hopes there were left over pencils. There were enough for everyone to get 2 more pencils!
brandihill > Everyong loves the photos when they were delivered the next day.
brandihill > This is the look I love!! A kid receiving his very own portrait!
brandihill > Everyone was told to wear shoes to school on picture day--but some just prefer to keep them off.

brandihill > Giving a photo to kids in Sand Sloot is a great feeling. This is especially the case with the girls- It really does wonders for their self- esteem. I could really do this for the rest of my life. This kid is not enrolled in school because her family cannot pay the fees. So I made a special trip to her home to shoot her and her siblings.
brandihill > I allowed the kids to pose any way they wanted...which resulted in alot of photos like this :)
brandihill > Tears of joy---she likes the way she looks!
brandihill > This is the teacher's planning room. I immediatly noticed little to no supplies for the teachers. They bring their own chalk to school. None of the luxuries seen in American schools.

brandihill > This is when all the kids were told to line up for more pencils :)
brandihill > On the portrait day I saved 10 bookbags for the teachers to present to their top students in a small ceremony. The remainder of the 110 bags were delivered the day before to the homes of other student. This time I didnt have enough to give a book bag to all 611 students. So I decided to give to the most at risk. The remainder of the student received pencils and a portrait
brandihill > Samson, the kid's father look at the photos of his children. When he saw the photo of all 8 of his kids standing next to each other, he asked "are all these mine?" :)
