The Photos for Africa Initiative
The Photos for Africa Initiative
For me, no feeling compares to the moment when I hand a child a photograph of himself – their faces transform before my eyes and I am amazed as these children fill with a light that is caused by pride-That is the power of a photograph.
-- Brandi Hill, founder of Photos for Africa
Photos for Africa was founded by freelance photographer, Brandi Hill. Brandi first traveled to Southern Africa while conducting research as an undergraduate at the University of Florida. Though it was her research on the judicial system that situated her in Southern Africa; it was the children who captured her interest. Empowered by their yearning to learn, Brandi began sharing her skill of photography. Aside from providing village and township school students with portraits, Brandi has also introduced students to the art of photography through the Call for Cameras Initiative. Brandi currently resides in South Africa and enjoys working with non-profits through out the continent. 50% of the proceeds collected through client’s deposits are contributed towards her efforts in Southern Africa. Brandi is excited to partner with African, student organizations, NGOS or civic groups who are carrying out initiatives that promote rights such as equal education and access to basic resources.
